Damayanti Buchori

Damayanti Buchori is Professor at the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University, IPB Bogor, Indonesia. An insect ecologist and evolutionary biologist by training, her research has spanned from theoretical to applied biology that covers aspects of insect ecology, biological control, integrated pest management, pollination ecology, to insect diversity and conservation, particularly in relation to transformed habitat and land use change. Her work also involves research on biosafety, island biogeography and to some extent, exotic pest control. In the past five years her interest has developed into integrating landscape ecology aspects into biological control research. She pioneers research that integrate conservation-agriculture interphase. She currently holds a position as member of the Plant Protection Commission, a think tank for the Minister of Agriculture. She is the Chair for the Entomological Society of Indonesia.

In addition to her activities in teaching and research, she is also active in the conservation movement in Indonesia and has been involved in several NGO conservation programs across Indonesia. She currently is assisting the South Sumatra Partnership for Landscape Management Project (KELOLA Sendang Project)
