Alexander Müller

Study Leader, TEEB for Agriculture and Food

Alexander Müller is TEEB for Agriculture and Food Study Leader. The European Commission appointed him as a member of the independent expert commission on “Junction of Health, Environment & Bioeconomy: Foresight and Implications for European Research and Innovation Policies” to advise on the design of the Union research and innovation policy. Prior to joining TEEB, he was a Senior Fellow in the cluster Global Contract for Sustainability of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS). Previously he served as Assistant-Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as a member of the UN Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change (AGECC), and as chair of the United Nations System Standing Committee on Nutrition (UNSCN). In Germany, he served as state secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Family Affairs and Health in the state of Hesse and State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture, among others. Alexander Müller received a diploma in sociology at the Philipps-University in Marburg.
