Susan M. Braatz

Senior Forestry Officer, FAO

Susan M. Braatz is currently Team Leader for Dryland Forests, Agroforestry and Climate Change and holds the post of Senior Forestry Officer, Forests and Climate Change at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations based in Rome, Italy. She is a forest ecologist with over 30 years of experience. She has worked for FAO since 1991, including as Coordinator for the Regional Programme for Forest Rehabilitation in Asian Tsunami-affected Countries, Senior Forest Policy Officer, and Land Use and Agroforestry Officer. Prior to FAO, Ms. Braatz worked for the United Nations Development, U.S. Congress, U.S. State Department, International Institute for Environment and Development and UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme. She has a Master of Forest Science degree from Yale University (1980) and a Bachelor’s degree (ecology/environmental biology) from Smith College (1976).
